PROPER CHIPPING TECHNIQUE
When chipping the ball, the left wrist should be flat through impact to:
- Make good contact with the ball
- Loft the ball at the proper trajectory
- Control the spin
To prevent wrist unhinging:
- The best way to become more consistent at this basic shot is to
let the shoulder acceleration control the club head. If the
shoulders are accelerating and your arms are moving with your shoulders,
there is no need to flip the wrist.
- Another good drill to prevent this mishit is to
choke down close to to the clubhead while chipping. This gives instant
feedback with a poke into your ribs if your wrist unhinges. Be careful
with this one, proceed slowly and cautiously.
